Jehangir Khan

Biography
The game of squash has been dominated by Pakistani players through out its existence, specially by the Khans who have won more then 80% percent of tournament titles. Jehangir Khan is among the generation of khans that dominated the game. The only time that Pakistan’s dominance was not seen is unfortunately now.

Jehangir Khan is the youngest son of Roshan and younger brother of Torsam. He took the world by storm in the 1980s.

Born a sickly child, he was lucky to receive immediate medical attention, and later proved to be one of Pakistan’s biggest stars. He defeated four seeded players to become the youngest World Amateur champion in September 1979, when he was less than sixteen years of age.

He made his professional debut in the ISPA Championship in early 1980 and immediately proved that his victory in Australia was no fluke, by leading world number four Hiddy Jehan two games to one before going down in five.
Jehangir’s improvements in the next twelve months were the most dramatic in the history of the game, with his rank going from #26 to #2.

By December 1981, Jehangir achieved #1 rank at only 17 year of age after he defeated Geoff Hunt in the World Open final. He went on to win the British Open in 1982.Then what he achieved few have managed to achieve.. He remained unbeaten for 500 consecutive matches ,remained Number One Player for 5 years consecutively, won 6 World Open titles(1981-85,88) ,and remained an amazing 10 years consecutive British Open Champion From 1982-1991 and won every kind of tournament he played.

After his retirement he was succeeded by second greatest player in the squash history Jansher Khan.

In year 2000 Pakistan honored the legend by throwing a party in which people from all categories of life attended and he was awarded THE SPORTS PERSON OF THE MILLINIUM FOR PAKISTAN.

Jehangir is now the President Of World Squash Federation no surprise of his Post as he was and is the Greatest player ever to play Squash

Jansher khan , Jehangir played very well but was defeated by world number 1 ultimately, and became runner up in the world championships by beating all but world number one fellow country Man legend Jansher Khan. Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi (born 1 March 1980 in Khyber Agency), popularly known as Shahid Afridi, is a Pakistani cricketer currently playing for the Pakistani national team in the international circuit. He made his ODI debut on 2 October 1996 against Kenya in Nairobi[1] and his Test debut on 22 October 1998 against Australia at Karachi.[2] He is known for his aggressive batting style, and currently holds the highest career strike rate in the history of international cricket. In a recent survey, Afridi was named as the most popular cricketer in Pakistan.[3] He also holds the record for the fastest one day century which he made in his debut innings, as well as scoring 32 runs in a single over, the second highest scoring over ever in an ODI.

Style

His general style of batting is very aggressive and attack oriented and has earned him the nickname “Boom Boom Afridi” for his fastest One Day International century just in 37 balls. As of 22 May 2007, he has an ODI strike rate of 109.38 runs per 100 balls, the highest in the game’s history. This attitude has been transferred to Test cricket as well, with Afridi scoring at a relatively high strike rate of 86.13 in Tests. He has an approach to batting that can change the tempo of a game and inspire the mood of an audience, as shown when a mass exodus of spectators occurred in Pakistan in late 2005 following his dismissal from the crease. He hits many sixes long and high, favoring straight down the ground or over midwicket. A trademark shot is a crossbatted flick to the leg-side to a ball outside off stump.[8]. This explosive style has led to some memorable shots, most notably the first ever 12 in power cricket in 2002, where Afridi successfully hit the roof. [9] However, his aggressive style increases his risk of getting out and he is one of the most inconsistent batsmen in cricket. This is reflected by the fact that he is the only player to score more than 5000 ODI runs at an average under 25.

Bowling-wise, his stock ball is the leg break, but his armory also includes the conventional off break and a ‘quicker one’ which he can deliver at nearly 80 mph in the style of a medium-pacer. He bowls at a high speed for a spinner, resulting in lesser turn, and relying more on variations in speed. He occasionally sends down a bouncer to a batsmen, which is very rare for a spin bowler.

Wasim Akram (Urdu:) (born June 3, 1966 in Lahore, Punjab) is a former Pakistani cricketer. He was a left-arm fast bowler and left-handed batsman, who represented the Pakistani cricket team in Tests and One Day Internationals. Widely regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers ever, Akram holds world records for the most wickets taken in List A cricket (881), and is second only to Muttiah Muralitharan in terms of ODI wickets (502). He is considered to be one of the pioneers of reverse swing bowling.[1][2][3] The revolutionary nature of reverse swing initially resulted in accusations of ball tampering, although reverse swing has now been accepted as a legitimate feature of the game. Akram's later career was also tarnished with accusations of match fixing, although these remain unproven.

Cricketer, born in Lahore, NE Pakistan. He studied at Oxford, playing in his first Test at 18 while at the university. One of the greatest all rounders, he was a fast bowler, adaptable batsman, and astute captain who inspired Pakistan's rise to prominence in world cricket. After leading Pakistan to the 1992 World Cup, he retired with a total of 3807 runs and 362 wickets in Test matches. He also played for Sussex and Worcester. His highly publicized nine-year marriage to Jemima Goldsmith ended in 2004. In addition to following a career in politics, forming his own party, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (Pakistan Justice Movement), he is a cricket commentator.

Haroon Rahim, (born 12 November 1949) is a Pakistani former tennis player. The former Pakistan and Asian number one, Rahim was the youngest tennis player ever to play for Pakistan in the Davis Cup at 15 years of age. He was also the highest ranking Pakistani tennis player ever (career high ATP ranking: 44 in 1977). He led the UCLA team to victory with Jeff Borowiak and Jimmy Connors in 1970–71 and was 1971 NCAA doubles champion with Jeff Borowiak. He was from the Punjab city of Lahore, from a large family of avid tennis players. His father, Mir Abdur Rahim, was a civil servant who encouraged his children, sons and daughters, to play tennis. His father loved tennis so much that he said he wanted to die on the tennis court. In 1968, he did exactly that.[citation needed] Haroon Rahim was only the second Pakistani after Khawaja Saeed Hai to make it to the Wimbledon's main draw. He played in many Grand Slams, in both singles and doubles. Rahim won two ATP titles, the first at Little Rock against former Wimbledon runner up, Alex Metreveli of the Soviet Union, and then the second at Cleveland, against the former record holder of the fastest serve, Australian, Colin Dibley, both in 1976. He also lost a final to Spanish US Open winner and French Open finalist, Manuel Orantes. He also won 3 doubles titles, one at Oslo in 1974, North Conway in 1975 and Little Rock in 1978. Success was also seen in the men's doubles where he made it to the quarter finals of the US Open, the third round of Wimbledon, and the second round of the French Open. His whereabouts is still unknown.
